Fat Rabbit Social House began with one simple idea: create the kind of place people don't want to leave.
After decades in hospitality, Rachael Treadwell had spent years behind the bar, in dining rooms, and leading restaurant teams across Texas. Recognized as Dallas' Best Bartender and trusted to lead one of Austin's favorite brunch destinations, she built a career around one belief: the best restaurants are about more than what's on the menu.
When the opportunity arose to purchase the former Forthright space in downtown Austin, she saw the chance to create the kind of neighborhood gathering place she always loved - one where downtown Austin brunch feels unhurried, the coffee is always flowing, and guests leave feeling like regulars.
Today, Fat Rabbit Social House is that vision come to life: a welcoming space where locals and visitors gather, the coffee never stops, and everyone leaves feeling like they've got a regular spot.
Our Philosophy
Hospitality First. Always.
Everything on our menu is made from scratch, in-house, the same day you eat it - no shortcuts. We keep it fresh, we keep it local where we can, and we believe in supporting the city that supports us.
But the real philosophy is simpler than any of that: treat every guest like they just walked into a friend's kitchen. Order what you want. Stay as long as you want. And don't be surprised if the bartender remembers your name by your second visit.
